Gold Coast Maps
The Gold Coast contains over two hundred and sixty kilometres of canal and waterways surrounded by upmarket homes and apartments. Before the coast was heavily redeveloped, most of the region between the hinterland and the beach was swampland fed by the Nerang River. These swamps were drained and man made canals were formed to give the Gold Coast nines times more waterways than Venice in Italy.
The easterly most point on mainland Queensland is at Point Danger at Coolangatta, right on the Gold Coast and Queensland border with New South Wales. There are several opinions as to where the Gold Coast starts. The Gold Coast City Council however starts at Yatala, stretches 55km south to Coolangatta and contains land westward until it hits the Great Dividing Range at the Lamington National Park.
